The power supply in the MMS is a piece of hardware that I’ve wanted to replace since I first built the system over two years ago. It’s noisy and lately it has started to sound like the bearings in the fan are going bad. Since this computer generally operates all day I would like to know the power supply is in good condition. Yesterday I ordered a replacement from Geeks.com.

The power supply is a Powmax Assassin 500W (Black) and costs less than $30 before shipping. I’m not fond of the LEDs in the fan but fortunately it has a switch to shut the light off. Hopefully, it really will be a quiet running power supply.
